Question 3

None of the FSY dates work for me.  Are there other options?

Yes.  Below is the a list of all the mid-Atlantic FSY dates and locations.  To gain priority for registration at another session, you should preregister and finalize your registration for one of the sessions for our stake (FSY MD College Park 01, 02 or 03) even if you cannot attend.  This will give you priority in transferring to one of the other sessions.  Registered FSY participants will have the option to transfer to another FSY session between January 27 and February 3 when "On Cycle Priority Registration" is available. I am a youth leader in my ward.  Can I see the registration status of the youth in my Ward?

Yes!  Point your browser to the Youth Stake Report for the registration status of youth in your ward.  And thank you for all you do to help the young men and young women!   Note:  the Youth Report is not updated in real time, so you might have to wait a day or two before the report is updated with current registrations.

Question 5

I am a Bishop.  How do I approve youth to pre-register for FSY?

Before they can preregister for FSY, youth must be approved by a member of their bishopric using the FSY Youth Approval Tool (see the approval how-to guide here).Note: Please ensure that youth understand that this approval does not register them for FSY.

Are there requirements to attend FSY?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  There are requirements regarding behavior, historical conduct, physical and mental health, and other considerations. Some situations may require consulting first with their stake president and parent(s)/guardian(s). Please review the full requirements here.Breaking the standards of FSY may result in staff speaking with the youth’s parents or bishop. The youth may need to return home immediately at their own expense and with no registration refund.Before approving youth to attend, bishoprics should thoroughly review the requirements with each youth.

Question 7

Why do the FSY dates partially conflict with the our stake's youth camps?

We have been unable to find a youth camps in Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania or New York that will accommodate a group of our size and provide the facilities we require in the mid-June to end of July time frame.  Thus, camps are only available to us in August and occasionally the last week of July, which this year partially overlap with our assigned FSY weeks.  Even with the partial overlap, every young man or young women will have two FSY weeks to choose from that do not interfere with camp, and if those do not work there are other FSY weeks in the mid-Atlantic region.

Is there an option to attend FSY remotely?

Yes.   Youth who do not meet requirements to attend FSY in person but are otherwise qualified to participate, or who may have a better experience attending from home, may find a virtual session a better option. You can learn about the virtual session option here.Youth approved for virtual sessions only will not be able to register for in-person FSY sessions. A bishopric member should discuss this option with the parent(s) or guardian(s) and youth before approving a youth for virtual FSY.

Why do I have to pre-register?

Accepted Answer

Preregistering significantly improves a your chances of attending your preferred session. During preregistration, you can indicate your preferred sessions and link up to five other youth to increase the chances of being at the same session.Note: Preregistration is not the final step in the registration process. After preregistration, you will still need to complete the registration step.Note also:  a pre-registration link is NOT a roommate request or even a company request.  It simply links those youth to the same session.

Can my friend who is not a member of the Church attend?

Accepted Answer

Yes! The youth should meet with a member of the bishopric to ensure he or she meets the participation requirements and is willing to follow the standards as outlined in For the Strength of Youth: A Guide for Making Choices and the FSY Conference Standards and Policies. In order to register, the youth will need to create a Church account at account.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. He or she does not need to be a member to create an account.

Can I request roommates or be in a group with my friends?

Yes, you can attend with your friends.  During preregistration you can request to cluster with up to 5 friends.  Yes, you can request a roommate. Note a pre-registration link is NOT a roommate request or even a company request.  It simply links those youth to the same session.

Yes.  We encourage stake members to carpool with each other to minimize transportation costs.

What is the cost of FSY?

You will be asked to pay $75 to attend FSY and your Ward will pay an additional $75.  We do not want anyone to miss out on FSY due to financial hardship, so please see your Bishop if you cannot attend.
